This session was not really what I had expected it to be. But still good. It is good to have a classroom teacher do a session like this. We need to be reminded that there are real concerns and what can/should we do to address these concerns.

Before blogging with kids - make sure you have thoroughly reviewed acceptable use policy. Also make sure principal subscribes.

Tinker test - can only punish or regulate activity that happens outside of school if it substantially affects what happens during the school day.
Are we going to allow comments on kids blog?? Check the MySpace and YouTube comments. What kind of comments
WordPress - multi-user
DrupalED - content management system - takes some features from Moodle ect. and put them into one. Takes all of the blogs from your students and sends them to you in one feed.
Moodle - built on constructivist pedagogy - students or teacher can choose to make the blog available to the world or just to the world. Teacher control trumps student control. Can have outside authentication - IMAP or _____. Active Directory may not be useful.
Blog can be the place to take notes.
In Moodle can create tags for class, student, blog etc.
Never publish student first and last name together. Never publish student name with student picture.
